Transformations: The Beauty of Equine Adoption

Sally’s adoptive family posted this a few days ago, and it made me think about how beautiful equine adoption really is in a way that other animal adoption might not be.

Why?

Horses rely on their people and training in a special way companion animals often do not. . . in order to see these athletes and partners to their fullest potential, the adopters need to bring so much to the table. It creates this phenomenal photo when it all comes together, especially when the rider and “person” for the adopted horse is a child.

From Sally’s “girl’s” mom:

“What!!!! AJ and Colors of the Wind pulled in a Reserve today!?? Woohooo! 2 blues in EQ and 2 whites in pleasure! Great day with some 3rds, 4ths and 5ths (out of 9)!!! So over the moon w/ these girls!!! 🐴😍🤩👍🏻 🏆”

Sally was clearly the right pony for AJ from the moment they met, and the whole family knew, but partnerships take work and time, and both sides need to learn and continue to grow. This pair has done just that in the last year, and we have so loved watching.

When you adopt, there is so much potential, opportunity and growth ahead, and the beauty of it is when you adopt, you have a huge team of supporters behind you from the organization the equine comes from rooting for you both each step of the way.

This is a spotlight adoption story from Heart of Phoenix that features a successful match we were fortunate enough to facilitate! As partners of the #RIGHTHORSE, we know sharing these stories helps spread the word about adoption!
