There is a reason Heart of Phoenix can be there for horses that need long term rehab and training, and there is a reason we can say “Yes” each time there is an emergency seizure neglect case where law enforcement needs us immediately. There is a reason we can act quickly when a horse we’ve accepted needs unexpected diagnostics or surgery.
There is a reason each horse gets a full intake, including lameness exam, full vaccines, coggins, dental float, fecal, deworming, microchip, freeze branding and full blood work.

Our monthly donor base is the sole reason those imperative, lifesaving services are offered.
Sadly, the economic situation we all face right now is a massive, double edged sword.
It means we all are experiencing a huge increase in fuel costs and feed costs, and services through the industry continue to rise, in response. This means, as the individual horse owner, donor or supporter has less and less disposable income, the need for rescue increases.
More horses need to come into rescue, but if supporters do not rally, it means fewer donations monthly.
Please, if you have the ability, consider becoming a monthly donor of ANY amount. Right now, your $5, $10 or $20 a month donation is needed. There is no other way to say it. We need our supporters to decide that, today, they want to make a financial partnership in Saving the Horses of Appalachia.
Some donors have reached out to say they are sorry they cannot afford to give right now, and we want you to know, we understand that there are times that come about where giving isn‘t possible. Please don’t feel bad. We appreciate that you’ve cared and given. It matters and always will.
We know our reach is growing, and as one donor may have to step back for a while, another steps in with a new ability to give.
