Ride for Rescue: Help Us Save the Horses of Appalachia while enjoying some of the best trails on the East coast of the United States near Lake Vesuvius in Ohio in April 13th to April 15th 2018 – Come for the Day or Weekend!!

Ride the Foothills of Appalachia and help horses in extreme need all at once!
 
Elkins Creek Horse camp takes you back in time to a world of horses and mules, family friendly fun and the picturesque view of a little “cowboy” street where you can have access approximately 100 miles of trails, 60 electric sites, primitive camp facilities, 106 stalls, a tack shop, restrooms/showers and more.

This yearly event helps us continue our rescue work with horses from Appalachia, spread the work on equine adoption to increasing larger crowds that come to ride and enjoy this wonderful camp ground (easily the best in the EAST).
 
Events will start on Friday evening this year, and will include an arena trail obstacle challenge, trail ride on the beautiful trails surrounding Elkins Creek Horse Camp, in the Wayne National Forest, with the Red Buds in Full Bloom!
 
Ride at your leisure, or ride with friends and rescue volunteers on Saturday.
 
A Poker Run will be offered during the trail ride on Sat. a live band or Karaoke, Sat night, and racking and pacing Straight Away speed races on Sat evening! Cowboy Church on Sun morning.

Itinerary for Heart of Phoenix Ride For Rescue:
Friday: 
3:00 pm – Registration begins
5:00 pm – Arena Trail Obstacle Challenge (ribbons will be awarded)
7:00 pm – Dinner and Welcome by Jill McCleese, Elkins Creek and Tinia Creamer, President of HOP

Saturday:
7:30am-9:30am – Breakfast
9:00 am – Registration begins for anyone not registered
10:30 am – Meet for pictures and information
10:45 am – Ride out with Friends and HOP volunteers who will show you their favorite trails or ride at leisure. (approximately a three hour ride)

For those who wish to participate, there will be a Poker Run during the trail ride. (Prizes will be given for the first through third place winning hands)

3:30 pm – Registration for Straightway Speed Races
4:00 pm – Speed Racking and Pacing Straightway Races (Ribbons will be awarded)
6:30 pm – Dinner
7:30 pm – Tinia Creamer, President of HOP: The Mission of Heart of Phoenix and Question/Answer
8:00 pm – Live Band if available; if not available Karaoke

Sunday:
7:30 am – 9:30am Breakfast
9:00 am – Cowboy Church
Trail Ride at your leisure

**There will also be a raffle throughout the weekend for some great prizes. You will receive a free raffle ticket for every event you enter. You can also purchase raffle tickets.

We are also hoping to have pony cart rides for kids.
