You Won’t Believe Where this Horse came from before rescue: Maggie

Maggie and Heart of Phoenix have a long history. In 2014, we were called out about a herd of horses living on a reclaimed mine in Southern West Virginia. We were willing to help the herd, and the county gave us permission, but someone moved them before we could get them to rescue.

When we were called out to a case in Logan, WV in March of 2016, some of the horses looked familiar, and Maggie was one of the 3 we knew we’d seen before almost 2 years before and hoped to help.

This photo shows Maggie as a 3 year old abandoned on a mine site with a HOP volunteer.

This video shows Maggie the next time we saw her almost 2 years later. . .

We were thankfully able to save her life, and just in time. And we offered her “A Chance to Be Part of a Fairy Tale” in her adoptive home just months later.
