October 2011I was notified about this situation by a family member of mine. I walked him through what I needed, he got photos, addresses and names to me and I sent the info to Summer of the HSUS. I found him a home, and Summer transported him to meet up with her in Morgantown, and the photo below this shows him a few weeks after rescue.
This lovely girl needed a home urgently as the owner could no longer afford her care. We circulated the photos and info, screened homes and found a quality home and have her pending placement on our contract.

OTTB placement from Louisa, Ky Arrival day – a few weeks from foaling
After being with us a few weeks and a few days following foaling. Still slow going gaining weigh, but her severe rain rot had cleared up and although it is hard to tell, she had a trim, but it took many months of intensive work on the right back hoof to get some correction.
The day we took her to West Wind Rescue in Bellfontaine, Ohio with her foal, Taro, for the best chance at adoption. Back in early 2009, we did not have a personal farm and rehab of rescues was difficult. We had had her about 2 1/2 months
http://www.westwindhorserescue.com/ At West Wind. Sadly, these guys did not get a happy forever ending. They were adopted from West Wind on a contract, and the adopters in Ohio were dishonest and sold them soon after! Contact me if you frequent Ohio auctions where these horses might end up. This occured in early 2010. Teka, the mare, has a blue eye on the left side and is now 15 years old

Her memory serves to encourage me to try 1st night here

God Bless you He is keeping track. He loves His horses xo
God bless you for helping all of these poor souls. They look to be in a heavenly place on earth! Carol Windsor Running Free Equine Rescue, Concho, AZ
Do you have a program in place that someone can sign up with you that in case of them passing away owners can list you as in a contact in their will that their horses are to find new homes through you or a rescue like you? I have often thought what would happen to my horses if I had an accident of another miss fortune. Not many would take on 6 horses one being a thirty year old…I am not married I have no kids and my extended family would have no idea what to do with them. I can leave money for their care until a new family is found. I was just curios. Thank you. I also am from Ohio
We do have some owners who have done this with a stipend that follows the horse through it’s lifetime left in the will
