Important Equine Legislation you need to act on now!

We need you to act now to help keep the horses of our county better protected.

Please call and email to your U.S. Representative and Senators today and as often as possible over this next month.

Tell them, ideally in your own words:

“I am a constituent of your’s in _________ county. I support HR3268 and HR1942. I also support continued de-funding of inspections of equine slaughter plants. I expect and appreciate your support on these very important issues.”

PAST ACT: H.R. 3268 (this bill has a viable change of passing)

“To amend the Horse Protection Act to designate additional unlawful acts under the Act, strengthen penalties for violations of the Act, improve Department of Agriculture enforcement of the Act, and for other purposes.”

SAFE ACT H.R. 1942 (this bill has a small chance of passing)

“To prevent human health threats posed by the consumption of equines raised in the United States.”

Even though the SAFE act doesn’t have strong support, the way Horse Slaughter has been blocked each year for quite some time is by defunding inspections of the equine slaughter plants. This essentially makes equine slaughter for export from the USA impossible. So when you contact all of these Reps in your state, please be sure to state:

“I support continued de-funding of inspections for equine slaughter houses.”

This will help assure, until a time the SAFE act passes, slaughter doesn’t resume in the USA.
