KEEP Heart of Phoenix in the lead. This is so important!
Make sure we win this! So many rescues are deserving, but we ARE the only 501(c)3 group that serves a need no other such organization in the entire STATE addresses.

Quite a few years back, this mare that we networked on to Gentle Giants, and a blind STB gelding we moved to Rainhill Equine Facility, were pulled of an Ohio mine site not too far from Huntington, WV where they had been abandoned.

We are looking for insight from Ohio locals not too far from WV about whether or not herds of abandoned and feral horses are still on the mines in Ohio in numbers worth checking into for raising awareness.

This is a huge problem in Ky and WV, but the numbers of mines in these areas are far greater. Post or email equinerescue@live.com if you have information, please.

On Aug. 7, 2014 in State v. Fessenden, the Oregon Supreme Court decided that the Oregon and U.S. constitutions allow a police officer to enter private property, without a warrant, seize an emaciated horse who was near death from starvation and take her to a veterinarian. But the court did not merely interpret two constitutions; it injected itself into the growing statewide, national and international debate over the evolving legal status of nonhuman animals. What do you think about removing obviously starving equines without warrants?

The Black TWH gelding I posted about that the transporter fell in love with – looks at how good (and happy) he looks just a week later in his new home!

The weird conversations of horse rescuers!

(had to repost without my volunteer’s number – that was/is a no-no! lol!)
