Heart of Phoenix is very proud of our ability to offer safe landing space for Thoroughbreds, especially those in need of quality of life diagnostics they may not get in many other instances.
We believe in a high bar for comfort in all horses. We prioritize x-rays, lameness exams and a full span of diagnostics to make sure horses are thriving in both body and then mind. For those without a viable future comfortable, we are there to make kind decisions. For those with a great, comfortable future ahead, we can then rehab, retrain and work towards adoptions when their racing careers have ended through the support of the Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance.
“Funded initially by seed money from Breeders’ Cup Ltd., The Jockey Club, and Keeneland Association Inc., Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance is supported by owners, trainers, breeders, racetracks, aftercare professionals, and other industry groups.
Since 2012, Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance has granted more than $40.74 million to accredited aftercare organizations and 20,000 Thoroughbreds have been retrained, rehomed, or retired by accredited organizations.
Currently, 86 organizations with approximately 175 facilities hold Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance accreditation,” of which, Heart of Phoenix is one.
HOP appreciates the efforts of TAA to make sure former race horses in their industry have what they need, and we are proud to be part of that effort.
